Questions about exterior work in Oakton
Is Virginia Exteriors licensed to work in Virginia?
Yes. We carry full liability and workers’ compensation insurance on every job, and our Virginia contractor license number is on every estimate we send — you can verify it on the DPOR website in about 30 seconds.
How long does a typical project take?
Most window replacements finish in a single day. Full-house siding is typically two to four days depending on the scope. Roofing runs one to two days for a standard colonial. We give you a schedule before we start and tell you exactly which days the crew will be on-site.
Do you handle HOA approval paperwork?
Yes. We submit material and color specs to your HOA on your behalf and handle follow-up from the review board. We know what most Northern Virginia associations want to see — product cut sheets, color samples, installation specs — and we price the submittal into every job. We make sure what we install will pass review before we ever order materials.
What warranty comes with the work?
Every product carries the manufacturer’s warranty — lifetime limited on most windows and siding, 25 to 50 years on roofing. We add a written workmanship warranty on top of that. If something fails because of how it was installed, we fix it. Warranty service is handled by the same crew that did the work, not handed off to a call center.
Which Oakton neighborhoods do you work in?
Oakton proper, Waples Mill, the Hunter Mill Road corridor, Blake Lane, the Oak Marr area, and out along Chain Bridge Road. If your street is not on that list it is almost certainly still inside our range, so call and ask.
Does my Oakton neighborhood need HOA approval?
It depends on the street. Older Oakton is largely unassociated, so the choices are yours. The newer infill developments do have associations with approved palettes. We confirm which one you are in before specifying materials, so nothing gets ordered that has to go back.
Do the trees have to come down to get the work done?
No. Working around mature trees is most of what we do in Oakton. Occasionally a limb needs trimming to get staging or a lift into position, and we tell you that at the estimate rather than on the morning of the install.
