About our work in Sterling

Sterling is home

Virginia Exteriors works out of 506 Shaw Rd, Suite 311, in the heart of Sterling. Eddie has done exterior work here since 2013, and most of our crews live within ten miles of the shop. When you call about a Sterling project, you’re calling the town where we live and work. Eddie picks up.

The bread and butter here is whole-house work. Custom-ordered windows, measured to each opening and installed in a day. James Hardie or insulated vinyl siding, color-matched and trimmed. Seamless 5-inch and 6-inch gutters sized to the roof. We’ve measured openings on every era of Sterling home, from the 1960s ranches and split-levels to post-2000 construction, and we handle the HOA submittals in Cascades, Countryside, and Sterling Park as part of the job.

Common exterior projects in Sterling

What we see on Sterling homes

Sterling runs from 1960s ranches to post-2000 construction, and we install for every era of it. Here’s what we’re asked for most often, and what each project does for the house.

Whole-house windows for the original ranches

The east-side ranches and split-levels still carry single-pane windows from the original build. We replace the whole house in one day: custom-ordered vinyl and composite, double hung or casement, measured to each opening. Tighter, quieter rooms by dinner. See Windows.

Siding for the 80s and 90s colonials

We give central Sterling’s colonials and townhomes a full upgrade from their builder-grade vinyl: James Hardie fiber cement or insulated vinyl, color-matched and trimmed. Most homes take about two days, and the color holds. See Siding.

Gutters sized to the tree canopy

Countryside and Sterling’s older tree-lined streets drop more than a standard 5-inch gutter can carry. We install seamless 6-inch systems with full-size downspouts, color-matched to your siding and sized to your tree canopy. See Gutters.

Roof replacements in Cascades and Sterling Park

Cascades and Sterling Park roofs are reaching the age where the original 25-year asphalt comes due. We install GAF, CertainTeed, and Owens Corning systems, and we can fold energy-efficient window upgrades into the same project. See Roofing.

Why local matters

Sterling is where we’re based, not a market we drive to.

Our shop is at 506 Shaw Rd, and most of our crews live within ten miles of it. That makes Sterling the fastest town in our footprint to schedule: we’re already here every day, so estimates and callbacks don’t wait on a drive. The project manager who walked your property is the one answering the phone. The crew that starts your job is the one that finishes it. And warranty service stays in-house, handled by the people who did the install. That is the point of hiring the company headquartered in your own town.

Common questions

Questions about exterior work in Sterling

Is Virginia Exteriors licensed to work in Virginia?

Yes. We carry full liability and workers’ compensation insurance on every job, and our Virginia contractor license number is on every estimate we send โ€” you can verify it on the DPOR website in about 30 seconds.

How long does a typical project take?

Most window replacements finish in a single day. Full-house siding is typically two to four days depending on the scope. Roofing runs one to two days for a standard colonial. We give you a schedule before we start and tell you exactly which days the crew will be on-site.

Do you handle HOA approval paperwork?

Yes. We submit material and color specs to your HOA on your behalf and handle follow-up from the review board. We know what most Northern Virginia associations want to see โ€” product cut sheets, color samples, installation specs โ€” and we price the submittal into every job. We make sure what we install will pass review before we ever order materials.

What warranty comes with the work?

Every product carries the manufacturer’s warranty โ€” lifetime limited on most windows and siding, 25 to 50 years on roofing. We add a written workmanship warranty on top of that. If something fails because of how it was installed, we fix it. Warranty service is handled by the same crew that did the work, not handed off to a call center.

Do you serve all of Sterling, from Sterling Park to Cascades?

Yes. We work across all of Sterling, including Sterling Park, Countryside, Cascades, Lowes Island, Algonkian, and the corridor along Route 7. Sterling is our home base, so it is the town we are on-site in most.

Where is your Sterling office?

506 Shaw Rd, Suite 311, right in the heart of Sterling. We have run exterior work out of this area since 2013, and most of our crews live within ten miles of the shop.

My Sterling HOA has color and material rules. Can you work with that?

Definitely. We know the requirements in Cascades, Countryside, and Sterling Park, handle the HOA submittal as part of the job, and spec everything to pass review before we order a single piece of material.
